Alingsås Keramik 1947-1985

AB Alingsås pottery was founded in Holma Lund Alingsås 1947 by Halvard Oldberg, Hilding and Carnemark. In the early years manufactured mainly enamel work under the name of "Emaljstudion" but they also did some pottery. In the early 1950s, they begin to glance at Tilgmans pottery, and around 1953 takes pottery production speed with eg large exports to the United States and other countries.

In 1952 they open their own sales premises at Hagavägen in Alingsås and in the late 50´s also came Sgrafittotekniken into the picture. 1954 hired Dan Griffin as artistic director and in 1958 he was replaced by Ulla Winblad. The number of employees increased from about 20 people in the early 1950s to about 80 during the late 1960s.

When Ulla Winblad leave the factory in 1967 and moving to the United States, stands Alingsås Ceramic completely without artistic direction, the renewal and production stops. Oldberg and Carnemark offers when Heinz Preissler work as artistic director. Preissler who was then employed at the Gustavsberg bathtub factory accept the offer and come to Alingsås in 1968. A few years later stepped down and ceramics production from the beginning of the 1970s, driven Alingsås Ceramic more or less as a mechanical workshop with enamel works specialtité. The pottery still in production was therefore often provided with enamel decoration.
